The inaugural round of the Suncorp National Netball League will start with a bang on Saturday 18 February as the Collingwood Magpies take on their cross town rivals the Vixens in a Melbourne derby to kick off the 2017 season.
Former Vixens Captain Madi Robinson and wing attack Alice Teague-Neeld will line up against their old team in the new National Netball League.
“It’s really exciting to have our first game against the Vixens who have always been a strong force in Netball. The derby will be an amazing opportunity for Victorian fans, with both teams boasting the best Victorian home-grown talent,” General Manager of Netball Jennifer McIntyre said.
The Magpies Diamond-studded team features some of the best netballers in the world including Sharni Layton, Kim Ravaillion, Caitlin Thwaites and April Brandley.
The full fixture for the 2017 season is due for release in early November with memberships going on sale next week. The Magpies games will be the hottest ticket in town and with seven different memberships available they will offer huge value including family packages with free entry for kids, special experiences and discounted entry for Foundation members along with holiday clinics and special privileges.

The 2017 Australian Netball League is the start of a new era for the sport with three new teams GWS Giants, Sunshine Coast Lightning & the Collingwood Magpies forming the eight team competition.
